John and I have had 2 opportunities to work as volunteers at the Draper Temple open house. We helped on one of the 'VIP' days and shook hands w/a couple GA's (Packer and Ballard)! The temple is gorgeous! You must see for yourself! The chandelier in the celestial room is stunning...takes your breath away! I think they said it takes 300+ light bulbs. I loved the baptismal font, too. It is symbolically shaped like a key. There is such a beautiful spirit there already. The grounds have been dedicated but we look forward to the temple dedication on March 20th. It's our very own temple! Can't wait to visit again soon.
A few interesting facts about the Draper temple... There are 221 exterior windows, 50 interior windows, and 432 door panels for a total of 35,420 hand cut pieces of glass. The windows incorporate the Log Cabin quilt pattern used by the early pioneers. The temple is built of the finest materials including granite from China, Makore wood from Africa, and limestone from France. The temple carries the sego lily theme - state flower. This temple has the largest sealing room of all the temples in the state. Ordinance rooms feature hand painted panoramas of mountain scenes of the area around the temple. The baptistry of the temple is located on the down hill side of the building, which allows for natural light through floor to ceiling windows.

How wonderful that you were able to do this! One of my most special memories is being a worker/volunteer at the Houston Temple during its dedication and hearing Pres. Hinckley share his favorite scripture. There is nothing better than a new temple!
